NEW! The official wedding photo album is online along with music clips from the ceremony and reception!

Theme and Décor
We will be wearing East Indian outfits for our wedding attire.

The colours of the event will be fuchsia, purple and orange. Dinner will be an East Indian buffet (see Menu page).

The live entertainment will include an Arabic dance show performed by Marilee (a.k.a. Venus), her students and special guests.

For your listening and dancing pleasure we provide Full Moon, with their live renditions of pop and dance hits from 50s to present (of the English/North American variety).

Rod will be sitting in to add his signature to a few tunes and some of his old band-mates from days gone by (have a peek through the photo album) will also join in the fray.

Don’t try to figure it all out, it’s a post-modern medley of cultural appropriation, but we feel it reflects our diverse aesthetic tastes and interests as well as Vancouver’s multiculturalism.

Attire

Your choice of:

  • Formal
  • Formal Exotic
  • Formal Ethnic

Tired of the little black cocktail dress?

Dream of looking like a princess (or prince) just once in your life?

Is there an outrageous colour you’ve been longing to wear?

This is your chance! Don’t be shy, be over-the-top! You’ll be in good company!

If you wish to dress along the lines of the theme we can suggest a few places in Vancouver where you could get a sari or Indian pant suit/suit for between $35 and $200 (don’t forget to buy matching bangles!):

  • Guru Bazaar 6529 Main St– sarees, fabric, suits, men’s and children’s attire (Ask for Sonny – tell him Venus sent you)
  • Rokko Sarees 6201 Fraser St (Ask for Jaz and tell him Venus sent you) & Rokko Warehouse 6215 Fraser St (S. end of block – has clothing, sarees, suits).
  • Frontier Cloth House 6695 Main St – Where Marilee got her wedding outfit (lehanga). Fabric and ready to wear—sarees, lehangas (skirt/blouse/veil sets), pant suits, etc.)
  • Nurmahal Fashions 6540 Main St – dazzling array of bangles, costume jewelry, bangles, rhinestone jewelry, metal evening bags, sparkly shoes, bangles.
  • Tasleem’s Video 5-6526 Main St (below Nurmahal) – Men’s dress shirts in bold colours and designs, East Indian videos and CDs, mezmerizingly tacky home décor items (i.e. framed shimmering waterfall pictures).
  • Wescana Fashions 6494 Main St– ready to wear for men, women, children, Indian and Indian/Western styles.
  • Exotic Designs 6569 Main St upstairs. They rent men's suits and women's jewellery sets. Some very nice items! Also at 9326-120th St.,Surrey.

Or anywhere along Main Street between 48th and 51st Avenues.

And if your taste turns to 22-carat gold, you won’t be disappointed in the selection. Our favourite (well, certainly Marilee's favourite) jewellery store is Kanreem Jewellers, 101-6569 Main Street.

Things to see and do in or near Vancouver

  • La Casa Gelato (182 flavours of ice cream made on the premises)
